Castle Aulencia

Aulencia Castle is located on top of a small hill where the Aulencia River meets the Guadarrama River. From there one can see a beautiful landscape.
During the Spanish Civil War it was used as a fortress in the Battle of Brunete. Heavy fighting took place around the castle in July 1937, the traces can be clearly seen on the castle.

The majestic and slender castle of Aulencia consists of a tower surrounded by a double wall. The outer part consists of six cylindrical towers united by a 1.4 m wide and 6 m high wall. The housing is rectangular and the longest side is 25 m long. The tallest tower is 20 m high. Today only ruins remain.
