Memorial 9e ,29e de Ligne and 29e Fortress Army

This memorial commemorates the battle of the 9th, 29th regiment de Linie and the 9th Fortress army during the battle of Liège on 5 and 6 August 1914.

The left panel indicates this church was formerly a farm and was the last hiding place of the 14th Line Regiment prior to the battle on Aug. 5 (the 2nd day of the war for Belgium).From this place they left. Here you can pray for them.
Donated by the brotherhood of the veterans of the 14th line regiment.

The cast iron flower box bears the number 14, the 14th line regiment.

The right panel indicates this church was erected with pious remembrance in honor of deceased members of the 9th and 29th Line Regiments and the 9th Fortress army Regiment.

And to all brothers in arms of the 12th 14th line regiment and the 14th fortress army regiment , and the 1st and 2nd chasseur regiment (hunters) fallen on the field of honor and in the forest of Sart-Tilman on the night of August 5-6, 1914 during the defense of Belgium and the honor of the Belgian people.

This flower box also bears the figure of the regiment, the 9th.
