Memorial Crash B-17 42-30274 Mol

On Aug. 17, 0943 during the first Schweinfurt-Regensburg mission, the B-17F "Our Bay Bee" 42-30274 was hit by anti-aircraft fire. The crew decided to abandon the group and return to their home base, Horham. On their return, they were an easy target for the German fighters. The B-17 crashed in the fields next to the "Congo Canal." All crew members managed to exit the aircraft and survived the war.
