Memorial Persecution Jews Gonnesweiler

Along the shore of the Bostalsee is a monument that recalls the history of the Jews in that region. The monument is part of a number of monuments in this region that have been erected to remember the history of the Jews and what happened to them in World War II. The monuments bear the names of persons who fell victim to the persecution of the Jews during the Second World War.

The monument in Gonnesweiler bears the name of Raimund Hirsch. He was born on September 8, 1934. In April 1942, he and his parents were deported to Poland by the Germans. Since then nothing has been heard from them until it was announced in December 1944 that they had been murdered.
