This memorial was erected in memory of the resistance woman Helena Kuipers-Rietberg (aunt Riek). She was the founder of the National Organization to assist in Hiding (the L.O.) which helped around 300,000 people in hiding. For her heroic acts she payed with her life. She passed away in concentration camp Ravensbrück in Germany.
The memorial stood in front of the former home of aunt Riek, later it was moved to this location.
