Anniston Army Depot

Anniston Army Depot was one of the largest military depots in the US. It was opened in October 1941. The depot supplied army equipment to seven southeastern states and overseas territories during World War II. During the war, peak employment numbered 7780 people.

The site was chosen for its relative safety from enemy attack.
