Luke Air Force Base

This air base was built in 1941 under the name "Phoenix Air Corps Advanced Flying School", later that year renamed "Luke Field". The base was expanded several times during World War II and by the end of the war was the largest advanced training base for single-engine aircraft. Chinese pilots were trained here in the use of P-40s. Luke's Auxiliary Airfields:

- Beardsley Airport
- Fighter Airport
- Wickenburg Airport
- Buckeye Airport
- Goodyear Airport
- Hassayampa Airport
