Naval Air Facility El Centro

NAS (later NAF) El Centro was built during World War II and taken into use by the U.S. from 1943. Marines for training purposes. Marine Air Groups (MAGs) started training here from January 1943 and in 1944 the base was expanded. The Navy Air Ferry Command also used this airfield.
