Mojave Air & Space Port

Mojave Air & Space Port was Kent County Municipal Airport before the war. The U.S. Marine Corps used this airfield from 1942 and transformed it into a training base for pilots. In 1942 alone, 32 different Marine Corps units trained here. In early 1944 the airfield was expanded again and used later that year by both Army and Navy units as a combined training base.
