Balboa Naval Medical Center
The history of Balboa Naval Medical Center dates back to 1914, when Marines established a field hospital in Balboa Park. During World War II, the base was expanded under the name "U.S. Naval Regional Medical Center San Diego" and treated more than 172,000 patients during that war.
