Naval Air Station Livermore was built in 1942 to relieve pressure on naval facilities at Oakland Municipal Airport. Livermore's main job was to train pilots. From the end of 1944, the base was given other tasks, including aircraft repair and storage. Naval Air Station Livermore was completely demolished after the war.
