V1 Feuerstellung 17 Le Mesnil-au-Val

During 1943, the Germans started setting up launching bases for V1 rockets in Normandy.
These fell under the responsibility of the Luftwaffe and were manned by elements of the Flak-Regiment 155.
Feuerstellung 17 consisted of : FA Richthaus, FA Dampferzeuger-garage, FA Stoflager, FA Eingangslager,
FA Zünderlager , FA Formontage, 3 x FA Depot (3), 1 x FA Generator and a V1-firing ramp.
The V1-firing ramp was aimed at the English city of Bristol but by the persistent aerial bombardments,
not a single V1 rocket has been launched at Le Mesnil-au-Val.
At present time the buildings are, for the most part, preserved and accessible, but are on private land.
