Sergeant-major Stanley Hollis, of the "Green Howards" was the only one to be awarded with Victoria Cross, for his military actions on D-Day. He led the attack on Stützpunkt 35a HKB Mont-Fleury and almost single-handedly captured it. The "cabin" was actually a staging point for a narrow-gauge railway, but at the time of the landing, they thought it was a small bunker.
