Memorial Spanish Political Deportees

The 1969 monument in honor of all Spanish political victims was created by designers I. et J. Gallo Fondeur.
The monument features a red triangle at the top with an "S" inside it, which was a distinctive sign of Spanish political deportees in the camps.
Under the bronze statue of suffering is the text "A la mémoire de tous les Espagnols morts pour la liberté 1939 – 1945", translated this means "In memory of all Spaniards who died for freedom. 1939 – 1945"

Inscription on the right side:
"Monument érigé sous le patronage de Monsieur le professeur Charles Richet ,Daniel Mayer, Pablo Casals Inauguré le 13 avril 1969"

Translated it says:
"Monument erected with the help of Professor Charles Richet, Daniel Mayer, Pablo Casals inaugurated April 13, 1969"

In front of the monument is another red granite urn in the shape of a sarcophagus. Here is the text:
"Cette urne contient de la terre provenant de tous les champs de bataille ainsi que des camps de concentration nazis où des milliers de républicains espagnols sont morts pour la liberté"
Translated it says:
"This urn contains soil from all battlefields and from the Nazi concentration camps where thousands of Spanish Republicans died for freedom"
