An imposing sculpture by sculptor and draftsman August Nobels adorns the monument to all war victims. As a gifted autodidact, he realized portraits and bas-reliefs.
August Nobels was a college priest and front chaplain during World War I. He taught the people to read and write,
With his tireless efforts, he wrote plays for the soldiers to perform and read them letters from the home front.
Behind the statue on the left and right is the Latin phrase "O Crux ave / spes unica", which means: "Hail, O Cross, (our) only hope".
At the front are 4 transparent plates on which all the names are listed in alphabetical order.
