There is a memorial in the municipal cemetery of Séviscourt:
Monsieur l'Abbé
Jules COLLIGNON
Seviscourt 18-7-1915
Kaisheim Baviere 1-8-1944 "
He was a Belgian Roman Catholic cleric and martyr.
Jules Collignon, son of a farmer, was born in Séviscourt (Libramont-Chevigny). He was ordained a priest in 1938 and began a doctoral study in theology in Leuven. In 1940 he did military service, only returned from German captivity in January 1943 and became vicar in Neufchâteau.
Since Belgium was now occupied by Nazi Germany, he supported the resistance.
On October 4, 1943 he was arrested and sent to the Leuven prison.
On January 10, 1944 he was in Esterwegen concentration camp and on February 15, 1944 in Börgermoor concentration camp. On March 15, 1944 he came to Groß-Strehlitz and from there to Kaisheim prison.
There he was sentenced to death on August 20, 1944, but died (before execution) in his cell at the age of 28.
