A monument was unveiled in Winsum on April 25, 2023 in memory of the victims of the raid on Tuesday, April 25, 1944. That day, raids took place in Bedum, Ulrum, Winsum, Middelstum, Loppersum and Zuidwolde, killing 148 men between the ages of 17 and 27. were arrested and sent to Germany as hostages. Most of them do not return from the labor camps. The raid was a response to the murder of Jannes Luitje Keijer, a pro-German detective.
