This building was originally intended as a pavilion, named after Serbian businessman and benefactor Nikola Spasić, on an exhibition grounds. The site was used from 1941 to 1944 as a Nazi concentration camp, both for Jews and Roma and Serbian political prisoners. Thousands of prisoners were murdered or died of starvation and disease.
The Nikola Spasić Pavilion was put into use as a camp hospital, run by camp inmates with medical backgrounds. The building across the street contained a shower room and mortuary.
Today, the building houses restaurant Poseydon and a gymnasium.
