Quarry de Froidmont

One of the many quarry's used in the war 1914-1918 by both sides.

The underground complex covers an area 350 acres connected with various tunnels excavated by the Germans (1914-1917).
Via the underground system the Germans could travel relative safe from north to south on the "Chemin de Dames".

In this quarry there are almost 1000 fresco's made by German French and American soldiers.

The entrance is a air shaft named "Thinker hole or Denker Hohle .

There is also a memorial commemorate the soldiers of the 26 division Americans.
They were the last users of the quarry.
