Casemate Type G. The bunkers of this type were built in places where frontal fire was to be expected. Of the G casemate, square with rounded corners, very few were built. The Meyel remnant is the only one in Limburg and therefore of interest. There was only one heavy machine gun to fire from the front. The G casemates are not very large and so were a difficult target for enemy fire. However, they had the handicap of a limited field of fire. These G casemates were capped with a cast-steel turret (gietstalen koepel). Hence the name G Casemate. Precisely that cast-steel dome caused, that the casemate became a ruin. In 1941, the Germans removed the dome because of the scarcity of materials. The steel doors of the other casemates were also taken away.
