A Jewish ghetto was located in Miedzyrzec at the time of the German occupation in World War II, where the German 101st Reserve Police Battalion carried out guard duties. Through this station, approximately 24,000 Jewish prisoners were transported to labour and extermination camps, mainly Treblinka and Majdanek, during seven major Aktions. This is described by Christopher Browning in his book Ordinary Men.
