Fort bij Vechten - Flank Battery B

Fort bij Vechten was built in the period between 1867 and 1870 as part of the New Dutch Waterline. The Fort's task was to prevent artillery attacks on the city of Utrecht and the defenses behind the fort.

Flank battery B is one of the 6 flank batteries to defend the fort against an approaching enemy. These brick buildings from 1869 were armed with cannons and reached via safe underground passages. This also applies to the two lapel batteries and the gunpowder magazine.
