Het Ronde Huis (The Round House)

During the Second World War, the Round House, which was demolished in 1967, was used as a labor camp by the Dutch Labor Service.[10] 200 workers worked in the forest and roads were built, including the Bovenweg and the route from Het Ronde Huis to Eperweg. The food officer of Het Ronde Huis gave permission for clandestine food transports, including for people in hiding from the Hidden Village.
In December 1944, the German "Artillerie Abteilung 709" placed a bombardment installation on the site, from which V4 (the so-called Rheinbote) rockets were fired at the port of Antwerp. At the end of the Second World War, evacuees from Arnhem and the surrounding area were housed in barracks near the Round House.
