The Sudetenland was annexed by the Germans in 1938 and after World War II it became part of the Czech Republic again.
The German inhabitants of this area were deported to Germany and their place was partly taken by Czechs and Slovaks, but also by Ukrainians and Romanians. In total, 3 million Germans were expelled, and 1.7 million new settlers were brought here.
In addition, a 2 km deep border zone was introduced, whereby villages in this zone were completely removed from the map, even the foundations are no longer visible.
