Memorial infantry regiment Hoch- und Deutschmeister Nr.4

2 memorial stones have been placed on the facade of the current police station.

The right memorial stone commemorates the foundation in 1696 of the Pfalz-Neuburg-Teutschmeister regiment based in Donauwörth. Soldiers came from the Franken region. From June 3, 1696, it was incorporated into the Imperial Army.

The regiment fought in several battles in the 17th and 18th centuries and after the 7 Years' War the regiment was transferred to Vienna and the surrounding area and in 1769 the regiment was named: Nr 4 Hoch- und Deutschmeister regiment. From this time on, the soldiers only came from Lower Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony and Franconia.

At the outbreak of the First World War, it was part of the 25th Division of the Imperial Austro-Hungarian Army (Kuk) and was 95% German. It initially fought on the eastern front against the Russians, as well as 1 battalion against the Romanians, later they were deployed on the Italian front.
From 1915 all regiment lost their traditional designations and was known by its number.

After the First World War the Regiment was redesignated and after the German annexation of Austria in 1938 the 44th Infantry Division was renamed Hoch-und Deutschmeister after the Battle of Stalingrad.
This division fought in Poland, France, Russia, Italy and Hungary.

After the Second World War, the tradition was again adopted by the Austrian army and since 2007 the Jägerbataillon Wien 1 has been named Hoch-und Deutschmeister.

The stone on the left commemorates the fallen of the First World War.
