Five plaques are to be found at the court yard of the Abbey of Middelburg.
Three of those are referring to the victims of the war of 1940 – 1945.
Two of those are for victims of 1945 – 1962.
The text that can be read on the plaque to the left on the overview picture can be translated as follows:
The year 1940 – in the middle the coat of arms of the Province of Zeeland – and the year 1945.
Being dutiful government officials of the provincial steamboat services in Zeeland they were killed carrying out their duties during the war years 1940 – 1945:

On the right hand side of the photograph you can see four plaques on which at the top plaque the text can be translated as follows
Faithful until their death
In grateful memory of the civilians of Middelburg that gave their lives for the Fatherland
Followed by the 36 names.
Below this plaque is the third plaque for the detached soldiers to the Dutch East Indies and that fell in battle over there.
Next to this 1945 – 1962 plaque two smaller plaques have been mounted. The right hand one with a text that can be translated as follows:
