Fort bij Vechten - Lapel Battery G

Fort bij Vechten was built in the period between 1867 and 1870 as part of the New Dutch Waterline. The Fort's task was to prevent artillery attacks on the city of Utrecht and the defenses behind the fort.

Lapel Battery G is one of two lapel batteries for delivering rearward fire into the back of a penetrated enemy. These brick buildings from 1869 were armed with cannons and reached via safe underground passages. This also applies to the 6 Flank batteries and the gunpowder magazine.
