In the World War 1 memorial is a relief depicting a soldier's journey:
Leaving his wife and daughter at home to fight for his country (The departure part) and experience the horror of war (The Ordeal).
The right section shows the mental and physical injuries that soldiers had (The aftermath) until the return home (the Return).
There is also symbolism in the relief: on the left he receives the helmet from his daughter and on the left he returns the helmet to his daughter, indicating that his journey as a soldier is over.
In front of this monument is the fountain.
