The text on this bench preserves the memory of the bomb line from the Second World War:
THIS PLOT OF FOREST WAS KNOWN AS THE BOMBS FOREST IN WWII.
IT WAS A STORE FOR BOMBS AND AMMUNITION.
THE RAILWAY ON WHICH THEY WERE TRANSPORTED ENDED AT THIS PLACE.
THE BOMB LINE.
During the war years, ammunition depots were established by the occupying forces at various locations in the Netherlands. The Feldmunitionslager 15/VI in the State Forest between Groesbeek and Mook was constructed in 1943 to supply German military airfields.
