On the grounds of the present Koonings Jaght, squire Brantsen building a reclamation farm in 1862 with the name 'Heidepol'.
Most likely due to low yields or because it is quite remote the farm had a different owner each time. The last owner was
Mr van der Eijck, director of a trade association from Amsterdam bought the complex of buildings and 30 hectares of land in 1938. He left the farm demolish it and replace it with a capital villa in Delft School style to make. However, the owner never lived there because the war broke out.

During the war the Germans moved into the house after which, after the war, the The municipality of Arnhem requisitioned the house. The Special Foundation came into the house Youth care that would re-educate the children of NSB members.
The Heidepol was one of the first children's camps to start this work.
