Memorial Cross London Scottish Regiment Wijtschate

The monument commemorates the soldiers of the London Scottish Regiment who fell in Wijtschate and Mesen in 1914.
The 1st battalion of the 'London Scottish' was the first British territorial infantry battalion that was deployed against the Germans during the war. They were brought to Wijtschate in typical London buses. The unit lost more than half of its men during the fighting between 30 October and 3 November 1914.
