Merghelynck Castle - Beauvoorde - Wulveringem

The castle had an important function during the First World War. On 2 December 1914, the 'état major' of the 6th Army Division settled at Merghelynck Castle. On 8 December 1914 it was decided to transfer the art treasures to France for safety reasons.
On 18 March 1918, the Ministry of War left Bernier castle in Veurne due to heavy shelling and settled at Merghelynck castle in Wulveringem. King Albert visited there several times.
During the Second World War the domain was occupied by the Germans.
