Memorial B24H Liberator 'Ramblin Wreck'

On Tuesday, August 15, 1944, the American bomber B-24H Liberator "Ramblin' Wreck" crashed at this location. This included 22-year-old rear gunner Chester A. Zyb, 20-year-old dorsal turret gunner Tice L. Jones and 28-year-old dorsal turret gunner William "Bernie" Martin Jr. for life. Of the other seven crew members, four were taken prisoner of war by the Germans and three managed to go into hiding with the help of the local resistance
