Text on the Monument:
THIS BUILDING, THE FORMER HOUSE OF DEPOSITION, WAS CONSTRUCTED DURING THE
GERMAN OCCUPATION USED BY THE SD AND GESTAPO FOR POLITICS
PRISONERS. FOR MANY, THIS WAS THE FIRST STATION ON THE ROAD
CONCENTRATION CAMPS, GERMAN PRISONS AND PLACES WHERE THEY,
THOSE WHO RESISTED THEMSELVES AGAINST THE OCCUPANCY WERE PUT TO DEATH.
IN 1944, TWO ROBBERIES WERE COMMITTED ON THIS BUILDING IN ONE
ATTEMPT TO FREE THEM. THE FIRST ROBBERY WAS GUIDED BY
GERRIT JAN VAN DER VEEN. THE SECOND WAS GUIDED BY JOHANNES POST.
