The cross has been erected in 1963 honoring the Russian prisoners of war who were held captive during World War II.
The prison camp has been created in March 1943 and left again in September 1944. The grves of two of its prisoners can be found on the cemetery of Nidrum next to 26 of their Russian compatriots who died in the army camp of Elsenborn.
The new cross is designed in Russian Orthodox style and has been donated by the "Groupe d’Animation et de Promotion de Sourbrodt".
