As soon as the German soldiers, commanded by general Von Der Esch, couldn’t progress towards Bellefontaine and Sain-Vincent, they ransacked the population and the village of Tintigny, situated at the periphery of Bellefontaine and Rossignol. 106 houses were destroyed and 59 civilians murdered.
