The monument commemorates 34 municipal officials who did not survive the Second World War. They had a Jewish background, were Jehovah's Witnesses, resistance members, forced laborers and/or victims of bombings or failed launches of V2 rockets.
These civil servants were employees of the Municipal Parks Department, the Municipal Cleaning Department, the Municipal Gas Company, and the Municipal Electricity Company.
It is actually not one monument, but a composition of 4 monuments that were erected shortly after the war at the various departments of the municipality. In 2012 it was decided to bring these existing monuments together at the same location.
This composite monument is located on the grounds of the Hague Street Organization on Plutostraat, directly behind the entrance gate. Although the site is not actually open to the public, it is allowed to visit the monument, but only during office hours, when the gate is open.
