Housed in part of the pre-war Horch factory, the August Horch Museum shows the history of Audi, DKW and Wanderer, later merged into Auto-Union.
During the First World War, Horch already produced trucks for the German army. The factory still built passenger cars until 1942, but then it switched completely to war production. In one room, ample attention is paid to this period, including a destroyed Kubelwagen and documentation about the massive use of prisoners and forced laborers in the production.
After the war, the factory was taken over by the GDR and the Trabant was produced there.
