Bunker J - Advanced Position Dolhain

This is bunker J of the Advanced Position at Dolhain

It is located in a meadow where cows normally graze (at the time the photo was taken, the cows were in the barn). The gun opening and door are bricked up. The iron door and shutters were sold as scrap metal after the war.

In addition to Dolhain, several forward positions were located at Beusdael, Bilstain, Goé, Grunhaut, Henri-Chapelle, Hèvremont, Hockai, Hombourg, Jalhay, Limbourg, Malmedy and Stavelot. These forward positions provided small shelters. These bunkers could accommodate 4 soldiers with a machine gun. These positions did not belong to a specific sector of any of the 4 lines of defense for the city of Liège, la Position Fortifiée de Liège (PFL). As a sector, they had an independent position.

The line of forward bunkers totaled 65 bunkers.
