Bunker A - Advanced Position Hombourg

This is bunker A from te Advanced Position of Hombourg.

The bunker is located at a frondyard of a house. The bunker belongs to “la Position Fortifiée de Liège (PFL)” and within this line to the forward position of Hombourg.

Due to overgrowth with Ivy the (open) gunopening can just be seen. The iron door and shutter were sold after the war as scrap.

The sector consisted of 14 bunkers (A - O) of which bunkers D, K and N have since been demolished.

There were several advanced positions (like Hombourg, Stavelot, Henri-Chapelle, Dolhain) which consisted of small bunkers. These small bunkers were suitable for 4 soldiers and a machinegun. These advanced positions did nog belang to a specific sector within de 4 lines of defense for the city of Liège. La Position Fortifiée de Liège. They were independent.

A total of 65 bunkers werer part of the advanced positions.
