German War Graves and Memorial Merzenich

In the center of Merzenich next to the ruins of the old church are 61 German war graves and 8 graves of unknown soldiers from both World Wars, 3 graves of unknown Russian prisoners of war and one grave of a victim who fell by a stray bullet from the separatists during the Ruhr War in 1923. The honorary cemetery was inaugurated on Oct. 3, 1948. Among the graves is also a memorial with the names of victims who fell during the First World War. The honorary cemetery is open on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
