Clarence Battery

Work began on Clarence Battery in 1780 in response to the threat of French Invasion. The battery was part of the much larger Fort George complex. It was originally equipped with 10 cannon and had a commanding view out to sea and over St Peter Port and Castle Cornet. Examples of period cannons are on display. Originally called Terres Point Battery, it was renamed in 1815 in honour of George 111's son.
During WW2 the Germans used it as barracks and installed a triple barrelled 3.7cm Flak gun.
