Monument 501st PIR - 101st Airborne Division

The 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment (nickname The Klondikes) of the 101st Airborne Division took up positions about 3 miles east of Bastogne during the Ardennes Offensive on 21-12-1944. It waited there for the approaching Germans and held out at the cost of heavy losses until General Patton broke through the encirclement of Bastogne 26-12-1944.

On 28-5-2022, in the presence of Vince Speranza, a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge, a monument was unveiled near the hamlet of Mont in honor of their efforts Approximately on the site of the monument bearing their battle cry "Geronimo," was located the battle pit "foxhole" of Private Speranza at the time.

The monument was crafted by Pascal Collette.
