Bunker EC 1 Chaudfontaine

Bunker EC 1 is located in Chaudfontaine Wood.

The bunker is difficult to find. When walking on the Chemin des Meuniers, you can enter a small trail which leads to Chaudfontaine Wood. After 300 m on the left the bunker can be found. Very well camouflaged over the years past.

This is the 1st bunker of sector Embourg-Chaudfontaine (EC) of the 2nd line of defense for de city of Liège, la Position Fortifiée de Liège (PFL 2) and belongs to the forts of Embourg and Chaudfontaine. The sector holds a line of only 2 km. Of 5 bunkers, 4 remain. Bunker EC 1 bis, was covered with soil in later years (due to contruction of houses near the site) and therefore is no longer visible. To the south sector EC borders the sector of Boncelles-Embourg (BE) with 8 remaining bunkers. To the north it borders with sector Chaudfontaine-Fléron (CF) of which 10 bunkers remain.

When after the war the most bunkers were no longer in use for the defence of Belgium, the iron door and shutters were sold as scrap.
