Bunker PP 9 B Chênée

This is a so called postes-permanents. The bunker is part of the 3rd line of defence for the city of Liège, la Position Fortifiée de Liège, PFL 3.

These kind of bunkers were intended to slow down advancing troops. These bunkers were constant manned unlike bunkers in the defensie lines. The bunker would defend the south-east side of the city of Liège.

The bunker is in a desolate bad shape. The inside is poluted, the outside full wiht grafitti. For a discription of a bunker of the same type in its original condition, see article about bunker PP 9A .

After the war the steel doors and shutters were sold as scrap. But there are still two shutters remaining.

On photograph 5 the are two boxes. This is on the left corner of the left side of the bunker. The left box was for the incoming telephone lines. The right one for firing on the ennemy.
