The inhabitants of Langres made a vow in 1870 that if the city of Langres escaped the invasion of the Prussians, they would build a statue of the virgin. Because the city was spared, this chapel was built in 1873.
After the first World War, a monument was erected here in memory of the victims. After the Second World War, the names of the Second World War victims were also added to the monument.
