Just next to the Sherman "Renard" at the entrance to the town of Kientzheim there is a memorial monument for the 3rd, 28th and 36th American Infantry Divisions that fought for the liberation of Kientzheim.
The monument consists of a monolith of 1.5 meters high between 3 flag posts with a memorial plaque.
The placard includes the following text:

LA 36ème DIVISION D'INFANTERIE, LA 3ème DIVISION D'INFANTERIE AND LA 28ème DIVISION D'INFANTERIE DE L'ARMEE AMERICAINE ONT COMBATTU POUR LA LIBERTE DE KIENTZHEIM PENDANT LA SECONDE GUERRE MONDIALE
SOLDIERS OF THE 36th,3rd, AND 28th INFANTRY DIVISIONS OF THE US ARMY FOUGHT FOR THE FREEDOM OF KIENTZHEIM DURING WWII
During the fighting on December 15, 1944, the 3rd US Division was able to make contact with the 1st French Army and took the lead in the battle for the "Colmar Pocket".
On December 17, 1944, the 36th US Division, together with the 5th French Armored Division, was able to liberate the fortified town of Kientzheim.
