War Memorial Queque-du-Bois

This monument commemorates the fallen civilians and soldiers of the municipality of Queue-du-Bois during the 1st World War.

Fallen on the field of honor;

LECLERCQ Jacques, age 33, soldier with the 14 Line Regiment, killed August 6th, 1914. His final resting place is at Ougrée military cemetery grave P4-B11.

JONLET Noel, soldier, age 23, died September 14th, 1914, at St. John's Hospital in Bruges. His final resting place is in the Bruges Military Cemetery grave 341.

HORION Jean, age 30, sergeant, died April 27th, 1918 by a bullet in the abdomen, in the field hospital of Beveren at den Yser. His final resting place is in the Queue-du-Bois municipal cemetery.

During the passage to France, German troops killed 3 men from the village and set fire to 16 houses.

CUSTERS Pierre, 30 years
DOLS Jacques, 16 years !

All three are buried in the Queue-du-Bois cemetery.

The stele was installed in the wall of the village town hall. However, this hotel was later demolished. The stele has been preserved as a separate monument.
