Roadblock Jupille-sur-Meuse

The borne Cointet anti-char. These types of posts are actually roadblocks, anti tank posts.

One would walk past them not realizing that this is a piece of World War II history.

Between two of these posts cables were stretched to pull fences across the road.

The post on the opposite side no longer exists. The post protected the upper part of Jupille-sur-Meuse which was a strategic point from where the city of Liège could be overlooked and shelled.

The posts protrude only 40 cm above the ground, but are buried 1.80 meters into concrete. That will also be the reason that if they were not really in the way, they left these posts standing after the war, like this one.

Nb; see the explanation of the municipality of Esneux on the road; Rue des Messes at Tilff. There the two poles are still there and this explanation has been added. (photo 3)
