Castle Saint-Roch Ciney

The Saint-Roch castle was built in 1906 by Joseph Boseret, notary, at the request of King Leopold II.
It stood on the site of an old farm,"Sainfoin's farm", which was operated until the end of the 19th century.
After that, the buildings had different purposes.
Currently, the Edouard Bastin Conservatory, the Academy of Fine Arts, the common nursery of Ciney and the Youth House are located there.
The park surrounding the castle is a privileged place for walkers and children who enjoy the playgrounds.

In an article published in the newspaper Vers l'Avenir, (November 6,2004) it was mentioned that during the "Battle of the Bulge" General Montgomery came to Ciney.
He is said to have stayed at the Château Saint-Roch on December 31, 1944 to discuss the continuation of the offensive with the Americans.
